googleIn our web business strategy class we started to explore into what Google plus really is. We did some research and here are some reasons why a company should be active on Google plus:

1. You can get found across Google. When customers search on Google the results to the right of the page will sometimes give insight, photos, videos to your Google+ page.

2, Getting face to face with customers for no charge: Wherever your followers are, Google+ brings them together and helps you talk with them. There are ten way video calls and hangouts, this really helps you stay connected.

3. Making social accountable, Google+ really offers in depth information showing how Google+ contributes to your company.

4. For events because Google+ it easy to share, set up and promote. It is similar to Facebook events, but it allows for higher level of activity.

5. Your posts on Google+ can reach the your target audience if your are using the Circles features correctly.

Although, there are many advantages for businesses being on Google+ there are some disadvantages for it as well:

1. Although Google+ is the second biggest social networks it is the least well-known and very misunderstood by most people.

2. Business pages are still really just testing Google+ out for now, Many people are still unsure how to use it.

3. Google has access to mostly everything you do, so the Question is whether or not your trust them with access to your business.

4. Google plus has a relatively low reach still. Google+  serves a lot smaller of a market than networks like Facebook and Twitter, and many customers cannot be reached through Google+. They will not be interested in your Google+ page because they are not active on it.

5. Google has not had the best social media track record, therefore people are skeptical whether or not Google+ will really start to become more relevant.

Overall I think Google+ has a lot of potential to really succeed in the future. Google has all the resources to make Google+ as useful and  effective as possible. I think in the near future it will become a well known used networking place, people are just slowly getting to really understand the in’s and out’s of it all. I was really unsure of what Google+ even was until doing more research in my class, I had only really just heard of it. I think business’s should definitely create one because it won’t hurt and in the future will most likely become very beneficial.

Fin and Feather Twitter Analysis

I am going to share how Fin and Feather H20 should use their twitter account to use it to their advantage in the social media world. It is a great form of marketing and a way to promote their company to such a large amount of people. There are accounts they should follow as an easy way to connect with people.

Fin and Feather Should Follow:

This will help them stay in the loop with the updates through the University and be able to promote their company and gain more followers in the area.

Fin and Feather

They should be connecting with their parent company and able to really utilize their account their following their page as they do promote it through the other social media sites they already have.

The Weather Channel and News

As a boat rental company, weather is a huge factor in their business. This will help them be able to re tweet them and people will be aware of the daily weather for boating and what not.

The Big Ten Network

They can connect with students through re-tweeting relevant information through them.

General News Such as the Daily Iowan

This serves the entire community and they can retweet things and also use these to share knowledge about general things in the news even outside just being a water rental facility and will show they  are supportive of other things in their community.

If a customer has been very good at promoting our company and re tweeting our tweets I would reply in a separate message: Fin and Feather wanted to personally reach out to you for being such a loyal customer and really gaining awareness for our company through constantly retweeting and having nothing but positive things to say about us. As a thanks to your effort to help promote our business the next time you come in you will get one free water rental, we hope to see you soon.

If a customer was very upset with a situation I would again reach out personally saying: We have seen that you have not been satisfied with Fin and Feather lately and are willing to do our absolute best to fix the problem if there is a better way to contact you via email or phone so we can take all strides to get this situation worked out, as we care deeply about our customers we are sorry for the inconvenience.

These tweets are to get people to come out and enjoy the water equipment. Having deals on rentals gives an incentive for people to want to come out and try our facility especially if they have never been before. I think people try things they normally would not when there are great deals for them. Also tweeting about the weather and how hot out is may influence people wanting to stay cool and go on the lake for the day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fin and Feather H2o Report/Review

Fin and Feather is a company that specializes in water recreations rental facility for the Iowa City Area, renting all different kinds of rental facility as well as selling food. The purpose of this post is to evaluate Fin & Feather H2O’s digital marketing strategy that they currently have in use. Now a days digital marketing is becoming a big way to promote your brand and company. Technology is continuing to advance and customers are consistently using search engines to find your business and research them. If you are failing to be noticed or keep up with your digital marketing customers lose interest in your brand or company due to the lack of information on it. I have done some research to see how successful their current digital marketing strategy is.

“Own” or “Rent” Existence

I started off by evaluating if Fin and Feather H2o had both a “rent” and “own” existence in their digital marketing strategy. After doing some research through the internet it appears that fin and feather only has a “rent” existence, only active on foursquare and Facebook with no linkage to a domain/website. When their is no “own” existence it does not add as much value to consumers and is harder to control their success and a potential competitor can come and put you out of business fairly quickly.

 Shouting or Adding Value to “Rent” Existence

When looking at their Facebook page it seems to be trying to add value to their customers instead of just simple “shouting” to them and nagging them to rent their products. They are constantly promoting and suggesting coming out the lake when the weather is beautiful but I think that is successful marketing and they are not just simple putting statuses like, “come rent a paddleboat now!” over and over. I don’t think the information is to overwhelming and your face but more making you aware of the events and things that are going on to get you to come out and join them in the nice weather.

Are they solving for Global or Local Maxima

Since Fin and Feather did not seem to really have and “own” existence deciding whether or not they are aiming towards one main outcome or many outcomes is difficult. They do have a mother company called Fin and Feather which is for outdoor gear and see if their current strategy is “global” or “local” maxima. When looking at their website it seemed to me that they are solving for a global maxima with wanting to capture the consumers attention with many different outcomes because they are selling so many different types of outdoor equipment such as camping, fishing, hunting, even outdoor apparel. Regardless of their mother company having a “own” existence I think that Fin and Feather H2o really need to start creating and “own” existence as well. I think their mother website should also have a little more information on what they do and even introducing their new investment in Fin and Feather H2o until they create their own website/domain.

Mobile Strategy

As of now Fin and Feather H2o do not seem to have a mobile strategy and seeming that they are fairly new, maybe it is in the near future. I think having a mobile app for Fin and Feather could be very beneficial, especially that people are constantly on their phones. If they had a mobile app where people could go and make appointments  to rent the equipment they wanted, they would not need to wait to get there to rent. It is also  could be good because if certain equipment is sold out for the day the apps could keep you updated on when each type of equipment was available for use on that day.
